What's in a Semantic Network?

چکیده
Ever since Woods's "What's in a Link" paper, there has been a growing concern for formalization in the study of knowledge representation. Several arguments have been made that frame representation languages and semantic-network languages are syntactic variants of the ftrst-order predicate calculus (FOPC). The typical argument proceeds by showing how any given frame or network representation can be mapped to a logically isomorphic FOPC representation. For the past two years we have been studying the formalization of knowledge retrievers as well as the representation languages that they operate on. This paper presents a representation language in the notation of FOPC whose form facilitates the design of a semantic-network-like retriever.

The Symbiosis of Human and Semantic Technology Through the Lens of Actor-Network Theory
Background: Semantic technologies (STs) have made machine reasoning possible by providing intelligent data management methods. This capability has created new forms of interaction between humans and STs, which is called "semantic interaction." The increasing spread of this form of interaction in daily life reveals the need to identify the factors affecting it and introduce the requirements of...
متن کاملCluster Based Cross Layer Intelligent Service Discovery for Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks
The ability to discover services in Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is a major prerequisite. Cluster basedcross layer intelligent service discovery for MANET (CBISD) is cluster based architecture, caching ofsemantic details of services and intelligent forwarding using network layer mechanisms. The cluster basedarchitecture using semantic knowledge provides scalability and accuracy. Also, the mini...
متن کاملExploring the basic elements of successful knowledge management system with presenting a theory through a semantic network
Abstract: Nowadays knowledge is recognized as an important enabler for competitive advantages and many companies are beginning to establish knowledge management systems. Within the last few years many organizations tried to design a suitable knowledge management system and many of them were successful. This paper is to discover critical success factors (CSF) of knowledge management (KM) and the...
متن کاملSemiautomatic Image Retrieval Using the High Level Semantic Labels
Content-based image retrieval and text-based image retrieval are two fundamental approaches in the field of image retrieval. The challenges related to each of these approaches, guide the researchers to use combining approaches and semi-automatic retrieval using the user interaction in the retrieval cycle. Hence, in this paper, an image retrieval system is introduced that provided two kind of qu...
